"More than 894 million people worldwide — that’s one of every six people on Earth — don’t have access to the 20-50 liters of safe freshwater required each day to meet the most basic drinking, cooking, and cleaning needs, according to the World Health Organization and the United Nations."

This is a very alarming fact. Nearly a billion people risk their lives for a necessity that every one of us have the right to. Unless we make a unified action against it, the numbers would only grow with each day. :(

great article! malawi has a terrible water problem and there is no reason for kids in the developing world to drink disease-ridden water - except indifference and ignorance. all they need is to be taught to expose their water to the sun, and the UV rays of the sun will clean it!

go to www.thewaterschool.org to see how it's done.

Tears fell while reading this post. I can't imagine how lucky we are compared to this boy. But God help him through good people like you. This is a clear indication that water is life. Even at a young age, he knew how important it is. I wonder if his story could be featured in leading tv shows, I'm sure the "sleeping senators" will wake up. What's the latest about this little boy?

Thanks. Your article makes me realize just how blessed we are.

I'm reminded of a gospel song from many years ago, a portion which includes:
"If just a cup of water I place within your hand,
Then just a cup of water is all that I demand."
