Very true. His whole schtick is a parody of those he ridicules publicly. I have a friend who thinks his "act" is the real Stephen Colbert - once I explained to him that he was actually mocking them, he understood the comedy better. I think the whole ColberT thing came about when it fit into the title of the show - since you pronounce Colbert without the T, then ReporT turns into Repor, so it rhymes.

One thing I can say about both the Daily Show and Colbert Report is that even when they have a guest on their show which you KNOW they want to rake over the coals, they still aren't mean-spirited about it; more like they are getting in their jabs just to tap the person's conscience, maybe. I've seen both these guys really ask the best questions and they will re-ask again and again until they get an answer. They don't let you off the hook easy, but they don't twist the hook, either.

Bless All

Stephen Colbert is a satirist. He is performing: Satire. He is not bashing Christians, he is bashing the hypocrites. He is not serious about his name pronunciation, he is making fun of snobs. Colbert loves being bested by his guests because the guests who best him are the ones the real Stephen Colbert (who teaches Sunday School and attends Mass) agrees with... Colbert and the Daily Show are the wisest shows on TV ("isn't it ironic?")

According to Wikipedia, he did actually pronounce it with a T originally. The entry doesn't give an explanation for why he goes by a different pronunciation now, but the pronunciation of his name is one of the objects for teasing him on the show occasionally (e.g. Eleanor Holmes Norton always calls him ColberT, as if to take him down a notch).

Joe, do you have an actual critique of the things Colbert said, supported by evidence? You have simply attacked Colbert's character. This ad hominem says nothing about why you think he is wrong in what he says.

Why don't you try again?

Joe...whether someone is a Christian or not is between that person and God. We can judge someone based on their language or on their words, but only God knows the heart. Best that we don't fall into the trap of judging others when it is not our job.

We are all on a journey. I had a professor who had become a Christian about a year before I had him in class, and his language was peppered with the F-bomb. He was trying to clean it up, but it was challenging to change the way he was so used to speaking. Yet, not for a second did I question his commitment to Christ. What do you know of Colbert's journey? We may have some idea of where he is, but we don't understand even that unless we know where he has been. And we for sure don't know where he is going.

Stephen Colbert (pronounced "col-berT" in real life) claims to be a "Christian" and a Roman Catholic.

But, he actually makes fun of Christians and he uses words which have to be bleeped when talking about anything related to the Bible.

Yes, I watch the show quite often and I like it when he literally becomes speechless when a person bests him.

His show is merely a spin-off of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." At least, Stewart doesn't claim to be something he is not.

I liked it when the cable TV rumor mongers who host news talk shows called Colbert's show "fake news." That's like the pot calling the kettle black.

Conservapedia is like Wikipedia. You apparently can join it and write your own versions of chapters in the Bible and edit what others write, too.

"They say the Bible is full of liberal media bias. And that is so true, folks. After all, the Bible says Jesus fed the poor. It should say He fed the rich and let the loaves and fishes trickle down."

LOL. That pretty much sums up the ridiculous misadventure that is the "conservative" Bible.
