Well, Jesus said similar things, so your beef isn't really with Rick Warren. He prayed in the name of Y'shua (Hebrew), Isa (Arabic) and the Spanish pronunciation of Jesus, if you remember.

Rick Warren is an unabashed exclusivist. He has no hesitation about saying that non-Christians (probably liberal Christians as well) will go to hell. How was he “inclusive” – because he tolerated their presence? Because he didn't tell them then and there that they were going to hell? There's absolutely nothing “inclusive” about him.

This reminds me a great deal of the Rev. Dr. Paul Sorrentino's comments in the Journal of Inter-Religious Dialogue. (http://irdialogue.org/articles/in-politics-arti...) In terms of interfaith interaction, authenticity is absolutely key. Even if people do not agree about matters of faith, they all respect the honesty with which others express themselves.

I really appreciated this article. It shows that inter-faith prayer doesn't have to be held captive to the least common denominator. May Christians everywhere follow this woman's example. May we lift up the name of Christ boldly, and demonstrate His humility at the same time.

If you are a Believer in Jesus, you are should use the name of Jesus when you close the prayer. That's because Jesus told us to ask in HIS Name.

Since the Sojourners Neighborhood Center is a Christian ministry, shouldn't all prayers there be given in Jesus' Name?
