		<description>Those are some sensational numbers.  30 billion gallons of oil !!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Converting that to barrels that&#039;s 714 million barrels - still a large number.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Let&#039;s divide that by 26 years from 1964 -1990.  About 27.5 million barrels a year.  Still a very ugly number.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Let&#039;s divide that by 365 days per year.  Wow Texaco dumped an average of 75,000 barrels of oil per day in the Jungle for 26 years straight.   &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;That&#039;s incredible since Ecuador&#039;s national oil production was less than 100,000 barrels per day for many of those years.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Oil production is difficult and the premises of the film are ridiculous.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Before we run off and save the world from Big Oil, Carbon Dioxide and whatever else is the fad of the day it my be worth thinking about the facts a little bit.  Political Science is not a substitute for real science that used to be taught in grade school.  Unfortunately political science has replaced actual science in the dumming down of our schools and often on these blogs.</description>
