I do not know how reasonable it would be to rewrite the whole thing. I think it would be really noble to meet half-way and take out the stuff that is most offensive, such as the calligraphy that was used without regard for its meaning throughout the book.

I do not think it is fair to pull the entire book altogether, being that this was not intentionally disrespectful. It was originally playing off of the authors love for the kung fu film genre.

But I think there can be a reasonable compromise and a beautiful opportunity for collaboration and accountability in the future.

Soong-Chan,

I think it would be really cool if you would help them (the authors Mike and Jud) write the next iteration of this series or peer review/edit the sequel.

It would be awesome to keep each other accountable. How else will they know next time?

Perhaps you can incorporate some authentic elements of Asian Cultures in the next iteration of the series or in a new book altogether.

Seeing that type of cooperation and collaboration and unity would speak volumes.

I would definitely like to be a part of that by reading it.

at this point, it seems to me that the only reasonable alternative is for Zondervan to rewrite the whole thing. even unintentional bias in the presentation of race or gender undermines the entire Body of Christ, not to mention the secular world.
