President Obama declared that Yucca Mountain was no longer being considered as a nuclear waste repository. I am not a geologist, but last I heard, the site was technically feasible for storage and the prime opposition was NIMBY-ism by Nevadans in general. I believe there is also an unresolved issue of Indigenous People's rights, with the Western Shoshone nation claiming the site. I wonder if that was the reason for the President's reversal.
