How can I plead with you??
Mr Wallis and Sojo--I do not have one objection to any action you have taken. But I do have one request. Would you please acknowledge that you are wearing at least multiple hats? And, with transparency, identify which one(s) you are wearing at any given time.
You have on the hat of the "Call to Conversion" -- bearing a call to Christ's body -- to a complete allegiance to the Kingdom--to God's Rule in all things. A call to our personal and corporate transformation.
You have on the hat of "God's Politics: Why the Right Doesn't Get It and The Left Gets it Wrong" --bearing a call to Christ's body --as an independent and transcendent prophetic voice
You have on the hat of a "Great Awakening" being best advanced by support of the Obama administration.
The temptation is to attempt to utilize the influence of one of the hats to advance one of the other causes.
This does not look like a grassroots move of ministers to engage in an honest dialogue. It smells like a political operation.
And I am perfectly fine with that. Just be honest and transparent. Otherwise you corrupt and manipulate those attempting to live out a radical, transformative, independent and prophetic calling -- or you corrupt the radical by equating it with a political policy/vote
I believe that the president and Congress need to end the moralizing bullying on health care and instead lead with facts:
1. What are the provisions of the proposed health-care legislation? (There are at least 5 different versions of the legislation outstanding, which makes specific discussion impossible.)
2. How will the proposed legislation lower the costs of health care?
3. How will the proposed legislation promote choice of health-care coverage and competition?
4. Will the proposed legislation provide and/or mandate health care and coverage not only for American citizens but also for illegal immigrants?
5. Will abortion coverage be included in the proposed legislation?
6. Last, but certainly not least, how will the proposed plan/coverage be funded? Via increased FICA taxes? Via increased income taxes? Via more borrowed money from China?
Recognizing that Medicare is already operating with a deficit that is ballooning because so many jobless Americans are not paying FICA or income taxes, the funding of any major public health-care plan is a crucial concern that must be addressed realistically.

Here are some additional questions that Congress should also be required to answer:
1. Why are there 5 different versions in the first place? Why don't they just decide on 1 version (before discussion) and only give us a discussion and "yes or no" choice on that particular one?
3. Without reform, what will be the future increased costs of health care? Will it continue to dramatically increase as it has in the past few years?
3. What about pre-existing conditions? If reform does not pass, will people continue to be denied choice due to existing medical conditions?
4. If reform is not passed, will abortion continue to be funded by existing health care plans?
5. Without reform, will de-facto rationing of health care based on inability to pay continue to operate?
We need to honestly evaluate the effects of any action or inaction that we take.
