Climate Justice Clips: Burning for Change

As we reflect on the current economic crisis and the Copenhagen Climate Summit, I'm reminded of the documentary The Burning Season, which I caught during the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. In this film Dorjee Sun, a young Australian entrepreneur, asks the question, "Can you make money and still save the environment?" His quest to find investors in his carbon trading scheme explores the question, "Can one person make a difference?" My interview with Cathy Henkel, writer, director, and co-producer of The Burning Season, will appear in a future issue of Sojourners. In the meantime, here's a clip from the film:

My prognosis of the Copenhagen Climate Summit shortly after Obama's address to the UN several months ago was that the hype over the global warming hoax would turn into a power grab by elitists seeking to suppress the poor in third world countries. You make you own call. Apparently, this is what has been going on right from the get go. It is all about controlling carbon and making money.

you mean to say his carbon trading scam. PLEASE tell me how this does any thing for the invironment besides make the rich richer and hurt the poor who will pay for the increased costs. I watched the PBS program about this guy and this scam and was shocked they actually believed this would help the environment. heck he hardly spoke about the enivironment when he spoke of it but to say it might help in some way. Are we this blind about such things. discernment comes to mind or the lack of it. This compenhagen summit is a joke none of it is binding at all its polotics to the high of immorality. the U.N. is so corrupt its shameful people actually find it an important group to listen to. As a christian I find them highly unchristian and immorale. I think sojourners really needs to look deeper into the things they believe in and who they think will help.
